This is the story of a land kissed by the sun, a land unique for its traditions.
It is here that the story of the Trapani family begins...
A story of traditions, passion and love for this land that started in the late 1930s, when Antonino planted his first vineyard in western Sicily. His son Michele developed a passion for viticulture that caused him to pursue agricultural studies and plant new vineyards around the hilly slopes surrounding Salemi, in the middle of Trapani’s province. in 2003, Michele, with the help of his sons Antonino and Massimo, developed a modern winery, capable of merging old farming traditions and new technologies with one ultimate goal: to produce excellence!. The production area with its unique microclimates, the grapes, devotion as well as the respect for traditions and unique production techniques, allows the Trapani family to turn a simple grape into a fine glass of Sicilian wine.
The winery is a modern and contemporary building equipped with the latest innovation technology but still respecting the surrounding environment. The whole winemaking process is oriented to enhance the quality of the grapes, masterly blending old traditions and modern technique.
Competitions and Awards
Sicily, the pearl of the Mediterranean, a land where colors, scents and the intense flavors blend with unique landscapes. It’s in Salemi among the hills near the Belice Valley on the western part of the island where the sun shines bright and the soft cuddling breeze exhilarates the land making its fruit unique. This is where the story of the Trapani family begins, made up of passion, tradition and above all love for their land.
It was Antonino, towards the end of 1930, who started with great sacrifices and hard work planting the first family vineyard in Contrada Ranchibile ( Salemi) and creating what would soon become a family tradition which still continues today.
From that moment on this tradition has passed on from father to son and the devoting love, hard work and passion brought us to the creation of fine wines that we find today. Michele, Antonio’s eldest son, used to follow his father as a child in the family vineyards and began developing a deep and inborn passion for winemaking to which he will fully devote his life, reaching important objectives such as a degree in Agronomy and following his father’s footsteps with a new integrity of viticulture .
Only in 2003, Michele began to build, thanks to his two sons Antonino and Massimo, brick by brick an avant-garde wine cellar, able to combine old tradition with the latest technology all with one intent: to produce Excellency.
It’s situated on a hill 450 meters above the sea level, Salemi is located in the site of the ancient Roman city of Halicyae, in the heart of the Belice Valley. Under the Arab domination (ninth century), the city was named "Salem" which means health and safety.
A unique area with a rich land characterized by different soils and microclimates which makes it an ideal natural habitat for vineyards. An area that has allowed the Trapani family to transform simple grapes into pure Sicilian "nectar" thanks to the same love and passion which has always characterized this family.
Our wines are made from both native grapes such as Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Perricone, Catarratto, Insolia, Grillo, and non native ones like Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine cellar
Its structure is modern without distorting the surrounding landscape and the winery pursues a forward-looking approach, but without losing sight of the old tradition. It’s fully furnished with the latest equipment and working methods which treat the grapes respecting the nature in order to obtain a dynamic result, supreme quality and to achieve a constant growing success with its own products.
Masino: created from grapes of Contrada Ranchibile, a strong clay soil where the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes dry naturally on the plant and a late harvest guarantees the highest expression of passion for wine making. This is the result of great responsibility and careful selection of grapes.
Vento del Sud: It’s the most complete expression of our philosophy: enhancing our native grapes in which a light sea breeze blends with the warm sunlight creating a unique melody.
Quiet: a line created by the constant search to reach the right balance between quality and taste. A wine with a slower pace which can be enjoyed daily.
